SPEEDRUNNER TRAINING SYSTEM

SpeedRunner Training Program

Coach Magill and The Running Corps have launched the SpeedRunner© training system. The SpeedRunner© system is a science-based, experience-tested, 21st Century training program designed to improve the performance of athletes involved in any sport that requires running—from football to distance running to soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and more. The SpeedRunner© system targets nervous system, muscular, and connective tissue adaptations to build strength, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and explosive power.

The SpeedRunner© system is:

  • 60-minute exercise sessions
  • Exercises targeting speed, strength, agility, explosive power, balance, and proprioception
  • Multiple exercises per session
  • Different exercise groupings in each session (some sessions repeat after 2-4 weeks)

Each session's training will include the following specific target stimuli:

  1. Strength – Bodyweight strength exercises, weighted resistance training, plyometrics, core work, explosive movements, and short running periods.
  2. Skills – Form drills, agility drills, stride mechanics, balance & proprioception, and running bursts.
  3. Speed – High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), dynamic stretching, speed drills, resistance sprints, and explosive starts.
